Changing Your Eating Habits For A Lifetime: Understand Your Personality.

Risley Tang

Hey Coach Risley here, this week's topic is about your ability to understand your personality and adjust accordingly to hit your nutrition health goals.

There is a spectrum to be emphasized here. For simplicity's sake I have narrowed it down to 2 main personality types, both are very different from each other as you will see.

Type A: The all-or-nothing type.

"I either fully commit to the plan or I fully wing it."

Pros: You’re disciplined when the time comes and you do not lack structure whatsoever.

Cons: You have a 3-minute attention span and do not see the bigger picture.

Type A personalities need to understand moderation better, it’s okay to go off plan slightly and when you find yourself completely going off track you need to bring yourself back en route.

Type B: The baby stepper.

“I’ll take it slow and see what happens."

Pros: You understand moderation is a component of success (But do you?). You’re stress-free about the plan and live in the moment.

Cons: You have no idea what it means to progress because you haven’t connected with your discipline yet.

Type B personalities need to create more of a sense of urgency, why are you even doing this? Baby steps are great but don’t get reality twisted and make sure actual steps are occurring.

What’s the theme here? As I mentioned above, like all things, it’s a spectrum, not black and white.

To really change your eating habits you must understand who you are and realize your pros while working on your cons.

Eating right is simple, we just make it infinitely more complicated with the additions of our desires and comfort and that’s okay! As long as you take the time to understand how you work as an individual you can beat these obstacles.

This article is meant as a wake-up call to learn more about yourself. There are no hacks I can give you to change your life. Each and every one of you reading this is different and will have your own way of dealing with creating habits that will truly impact you and not some Instagram hack that you’ll probably stop doing within a few weeks.

As always I’m here to help so reach out and let’s chat 👊.
